Twelve Questions Collectors Ask Before a First Lux Monsters Purchase

Every inbox message to info@luxmonsters.com contains at least one of these questions. Below are the twelve we see most, answered the way we would answer a friend. No upsell, no marketing language. Straight read.

1. Are Lux Monsters made of real gold?

Yes. Every bezel, setting, and piece of hardware on a Lux Monster is 18K gold, 75 percent pure by mass, alloyed for hardness and hallmarked. We never use plating, vermeil, or brass. A post on why we work in 18K rather than 24K is at /blog/why-18k-gold-not-24k.

2. Are the gems real?

Yes. Every gem set into a Lux Monster is a natural stone, not synthetic, not glass. The stones are diamonds, rubies, and sapphires. Where a stone warrants it, it is accompanied by an independent lab report. Every piece ships with a signed certificate of authenticity that identifies the gem type, cut, carat, and clarity. If a piece leaves the atelier with a stone that has not been documented, it is a production mistake, not standard practice.

3. How many pieces are made per edition?

Each edition is a numbered, limited run. Pieces are individually numbered (01, 02, 03 and up), and production is still in progress, so the final quantity per edition is not yet fixed. What we can tell you is that the runs are deliberately small, and once an edition is closed we do not restock. A new edition with different characters follows.

At launch, the €1,500 editions are the pieces you can buy directly on the site. Higher pieces, including the €4,500 flagship, release later or by private request.

4. Is this a good investment?

We do not sell Lux Monsters as financial instruments and we do not recommend buying them as one. That said, the economics work as follows.

Every piece carries real intrinsic value in its materials, the 18K gold and the natural stones. That is a floor. Below the worth of the metal and the stones you would be selling the materials for less than they cost, and because gold and fine stones are priced in global markets, that floor rises slowly over time.

Above that floor, resale value depends on edition scarcity, character popularity, condition of the piece, and whether the original certificate of authenticity and serial number are intact. The earliest editions of any serious luxury brand tend to appreciate because their scarcity is permanent. Beyond that the market decides.

Buy because you want the object. Appreciation is a bonus, not a reason.

5. Can I try one before I buy?

Not yet. We do not have a retail showroom and we do not ship demo pieces. What we will do before Edition 01 drops is send a private dossier by email to anyone on the waitlist who asks. The dossier includes close up photography, material specs, and a video of one piece being handled. Reply to any email from info@luxmonsters.com with the word “dossier” and you will get it within 24 hours.

6. How do I know a Lux Monster is authentic?

Every piece ships with a signed Certificate of Authenticity carrying a unique serial number. Enter that serial number at luxmonsters.com/verify and you will see the piece’s edition, number, and record on file. The certificate is signed by the house and tied to your specific piece.

If a serial number does not verify on our site, the piece did not come from us. We keep the full record for the life of the piece.

7. Will you ship to my country?

Almost certainly yes. We ship worldwide via insured DHL Express or FedEx Priority with signature required and full tracking. Shipping is included in the price. The only places we cannot ship are countries under active EU, US, UK, or UN sanctions. For the full list see /shipping.

Note that in some countries (notably the US, Canada, UK, and Australia) the buyer is responsible for import duties and VAT on arrival. We include a full commercial invoice. We cannot mark shipments as gifts or undervalued.

8. Can I cancel after I order?

Yes, within 24 hours, for any reason, full refund. After the 24 hour window, production begins in the atelier and the order becomes final. This is documented at /legal/refund.

The reason the window is narrow is that every piece is made to order. Once we start cutting gold and setting stones for your specific edition number, the work is specific to you.

9. How long until I receive my piece?

Four to eight weeks from the end of the cancellation window. You will receive progress updates every two weeks, with photography from the atelier showing your piece at each stage. Simpler pieces usually ship at the earlier end. Pieces where we are setting multiple stones by hand usually ship at the later end.

When the piece is finished, we pack it in its presentation box, include the certificate and authentication card, and ship by insured express. Door to door is 2 to 5 business days for most destinations.

10. Do you offer payment plans?

Yes. We offer Klarna, which splits the total into 4 equal payments with zero interest. We also accept Apple Pay, Google Pay, and direct wire transfer (useful for buyers above the Klarna limit). Stripe handles all card processing and we never see or store card numbers ourselves.

For a higher-value piece, wire transfer is often simpler because it ships with extra paperwork for high value customs declarations.

11. What if my piece arrives damaged?

Take a photo before you open the box, including the courier’s damage markings if any. Reply to your order confirmation email within 48 hours of delivery with the photos and the tracking number. We arrange a repair or replacement at our expense. The piece is covered by our lifetime craftsmanship warranty, which covers any defect in materials or workmanship, documented at /warranty.

The warranty does not cover intentional damage, unauthorised third party modifications, or loss. Insurance in transit covers loss and accidental damage during shipping.

12. What happens when I resell the piece?

The authentication transfers with the piece. The signed certificate and its unique serial number pass to the new owner, and the record on file at luxmonsters.com/verify updates to reflect the change. Future buyers can confirm the piece against its serial number. We recommend keeping the original presentation box and certificate to preserve full resale value.

We do not take a cut of resale transactions. We do not broker resales. We do maintain a list of verified resellers and collectors at /collaborations if you are looking for serious buyers.

One more thing

If your question is not in this list, email info@luxmonsters.com. The house reads every message. The only questions we cannot answer are ones about unreleased characters in upcoming editions. Everything else is on the table.
